Adulthood:
Adulthood is a theme in is book Copper Sun. Amari is going through a rough time of becoming an adult. Amari is not understand what is going happen. Amari has to realize that she is not a young lady anymore, that she is an adult. Amari has realized that she has to defend for herself and to do things that she thinks that will benefit her. When Amari, Polly and Tidbit are running away, Amari takes the part of being like a mother to Tidbit since he was taken away from his mother. Amari and Polly are similar to each other.
Polly is reaching the exact some point in her life also. Polly has been on her own since her parents were killed. Polly did not trust anyone, unless she really knew them, just like Amari. Amari and Polly both take the part of being a mother to Tidbit. Amari has also went and captured food for them to eat on their journey to safety. Amari and Polly are both going through that different stage in their life.
