Plantation Life:
Plantation life and house servants were to two main jobs that slaves had to do. House servants had to take care of the family in the house they also had to give them good treatment meaning the slaves had to obey the master and his family and also make sure that they have dinner ready and serve them. House slaves had a better chance of learning how to read and write. House servants did not get Sunday's off, therefore the house servants had to go to church with the master and his family. The advantage of being a house servant is that they can listen to the master's conversation and warn the slaves in the fields. House slaves had to take care of the mistress's baby while they go do whatever.
Field workers had a rough life during the late 1700's. Field workers had to work from sunrise to sunset which sometimes was 18 hours. Lady slaves that the same work schedule unless they were pregnant and they worked until the baby came; in additional to that, when that child is born they would have to carry it on their backs while working. Field workers live in the huts rather than a house servant who lives in the house. Field workers who live in huts, sleep on the dirt floor with a rough blanket. The huts did not protect them from the cold breeze during the winter.
