Timeline:
A Timeline about Copper Sun by Sharon M. Draper tells you what happens in order with the book and this also shows you how the African American's were treated.
Part 1: Amari is in love with Besa and he tells Amari that white men are coming members of the Ashanti Tribe.
Part 2: Amari's mother tells everyone and prepares a feast for the guest (the white men).
Part 3: The white men shoot the parents and take the teenagers meaning (Amari's age, 15). The white men shackle their feet, hands, and necks in groups and make them walk for miles.
Part 4: They reach a place where they keep the slaves. The white men brand them with a letter "M"- which means that they have been to the place where they have taken to after being captured. The white men then sail them off to this ship.
Part 4: The slaves are on a ship that is taking them to America (which they do not know where they are going). The white men then make the girls take off their clothes and they rape them. The man who was to rape Amari taught her some English words.
Part 5: They are arrived at America, where they will be sold. They feed them good meals and get them looking better so they will get more money.
Part 6: Amari is sold to Mr. Derby. Mr. Derby bought Amari for his 16 year old as a birthday present. Therefore Mr. Derby's son Clay, makes her have sex with him.
Part 7: Amari meets Polly, Polly is a white girl who is to teach Amari the white people language which is English. Amari's name is now Myna.
Part 8: Amari and Polly help Teenie in the kitchen. Teenie is the cook for the Derby family. They need Amari and Polly to serve the Derby family because the other slaves who do is not well. Amari gets beaten by Mr. Derby because she dropped the pie on the carpet.
Part 9: Mrs. Derby is pregnant, Mr, Derby thinks that it is he baby. Mrs. Derby has feelings for Noah, who is a slave. Mrs. Derby and Noah have been good friends ever since they have been little and they both love each other. When Mrs. Derby has the baby, it is black therefore; it is Noah's baby. Amari, Polly and Teenie hide the baby from Mr. Derby and tell him that the baby was stillborn and that it was deformed.
Part 10: Mr. Derby found out what really happened and shot the baby and Noah. Mrs. Derby is very upset and sad that the two people who she really cared for and love are gone. Amari, Polly, Teenie and Tidbit (Teenie's little boy) are locked it in the Smokehouse. Mr. Derby plans to sell Amari, Polly and Tidbit. He is sending them with the doctor so he doesn't have to make a trip in town to sell them. The doctor strongly disagrees with slavery.
Part 11: Cato, one of the older slaves comes in the kitchen to talk to Teenie through a little hole in door. Cato put poison in Clay's wine that way he wouldn't go with the doctor and Amari, Polly and Tidbit to be sold again.
Part 12: On the way to town, the doctor stops and lets them free and tells them where to go. Doctor Hopskin gives them food and water for them to eat and a gun with only enough stuff for one shot.
Part 13: Amari, Polly and Tidbit are running away in the woods to get to Fort Mose.
Part 14: Clay finds them, slaps Amari and tries to take her back to the farm. Polly then comes and shoots him and only got a side of Clay's head. Amari is free and they tie him to the tree and run away.
Part 15: They have found Fort Mose and the lady took them in and make them a good, hot meal and called them her grandchildren.
